ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced scholarships and jobs for minorities people in the country. He stated this while extending heartfelt Diwali greetings to Pakistan’s minority communities at a ceremony held at the Prime Minister House. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to equality, inclusion, and interfaith harmony across all sectors of society.
The premier praised Pakistan’s diverse communities for strengthening the country’s unity and identity.
Nation United Against Hatred and Terrorism
In his address, Shehbaz Sharif declared that the nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces.
He said there is no space for hatred, discrimination, or terrorism in Pakistan.
The prime minister emphasized that unity among all religious and ethnic groups is vital for national progress.
“Pakistan’s strength lies in its diversity,” he stated, highlighting that every citizen contributes to the country’s success regardless of faith.
Expanding Opportunities for Minority Communities
The government has reserved a 5% quota for minorities in government jobs to ensure fair representation.
A special budget has also been allocated to support celebrations of religious festivals such as Diwali, Christmas, and Easter.
Shehbaz Sharif announced that minorities are being included in the Prime Minister Youth Program.
This initiative provides business loans, training, and scholarships to empower young citizens, especially from minority backgrounds.
Strengthening the National Minorities Commission
The prime minister revealed new measures to strengthen the National Minorities Commission.
These steps aim to enhance the commission’s ability to safeguard the rights and welfare of minority communities.
He added that minorities already have representation in the National Assembly, Senate, and major political parties, showcasing Pakistan’s democratic inclusivity.
Recognizing Minorities’ Role in Nation Building
Shehbaz Sharif praised the contributions of minorities in education, healthcare, reconstruction, and defense.
He noted that minority communities played a proud role from Pakistan’s creation to its ongoing development.
The premier expressed regret that majority communities sometimes overlook minority celebrations.
However, he vowed to promote interfaith respect and harmony under his leadership.
“We are proud of our minority brothers and sisters,” he said, calling their service essential to Pakistan’s identity.
