Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep appreciation for United States President Donald Trump, calling him a “man of peace” committed to ending global conflicts.
The two leaders met in a cordial session at the Oval Office, where PM Shehbaz highlighted Trump’s bold and decisive actions. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Trump’s efforts played a vital role in facilitating a ceasefire between Pakistan and India, preventing what could have become a major catastrophe in South Asia.
Focus on Peace in the Middle East
During the meeting, PM Shehbaz praised Trump’s initiative to resolve the ongoing Gaza crisis. He appreciated Trump’s invitation to Muslim leaders in New York earlier this week, which allowed meaningful dialogue on restoring peace in Gaza and the West Bank. The premier underlined that such initiatives are crucial for long-term stability in the Middle East.
Expanding Economic and Trade Relations
Accompanied by Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, PM Shehbaz thanked President Trump for the tariff arrangement concluded earlier this year. He also invited American companies to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan’s agriculture, IT, minerals, and energy sectors. This step, he said, would benefit both countries by strengthening economic cooperation.
Security and Counter-Terrorism Cooperation
The discussion also covered regional security. PM Shehbaz expressed gratitude for Trump’s endorsement of Pakistan’s role in counter-terrorism. He emphasized the need to expand cooperation in intelligence and security operations. Additionally, the prime minister extended an official invitation to President Trump to visit Pakistan at his convenience.
A New Chapter in Bilateral Ties
The meeting lasted over an hour, attended by US Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Warm images released from the White House showed the leaders engaged in friendly conversations.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif hailed the development, calling 2025 a historic year of achievements for Pakistan. He pointed to the defence pact with Saudi Arabia, success against India, and unprecedented progress in US-Pakistan relations.
Democratic leader Shahid Khan also noted the significance of the talks, stressing that Pakistan has elevated its role not only in South Asia but also in the Middle East.
With warming ties under Trump’s administration, Pakistan and the United States appear poised for a stronger and more balanced partnership.
