Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was met with a chaotic scene upon his arrival at the National Assembly session, as both government and opposition members engaged in intense protests that made it nearly impossible to proceed with the meeting.
As the Prime Minister entered the chamber, the opposition erupted with chants of “Ooh Ooh,” escalating their protests. Members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) held up placards and stood on their seats in protest. Opposition Leader Umar Ayub was seen actively joining in the chants.
In response, government members gathered around the Prime Minister’s seat, raising their own slogans in support. Minister for Information Atta Tarar joined the chants, while key figures from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), including Dr. Tariq Fazal and Hanif Abbasi, formed a barrier between the Prime Minister and the opposition.
The noise in the assembly grew so loud that it drowned out all other sounds. Despite the disruption, the Speaker of the House continued proceedings, wearing headphones to manage the overwhelming noise.
Meanwhile, members of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) remained largely silent, sitting quietly at their seats, as the opposition ripped up copies of the agenda and tossed them into the air.
