Premier offers condolences, reaffirms Pakistan’s solidarity with Qatar amid rising regional tensions
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday strongly condemned the Israeli airstrikes on Doha during a telephone conversation with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, expressing deep sorrow over the attack and reaffirming Pakistan’s support for Qatar.
During the call, the prime minister conveyed condolences to the Emir, the royal family, and the people of Qatar, terming the Israeli assault a “brutal act” and a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He described the strikes as a reflection of Israel’s aggressive mindset, saying they posed a serious threat to regional peace and security.
“The Israeli airstrikes on residential areas are not only inhumane but also a dangerous escalation that must be condemned globally,” PM Shehbaz stated.
Pakistan Stands with Qatar
Prime Minister Shehbaz assured the Qatari leader of Pakistan’s complete solidarity, describing Qatar as a strong and united partner in efforts to uphold peace, dignity, and regional cooperation. He also emphasized the urgent need for unity within the Muslim world in the face of escalating hostilities and aggression.
Qatar Appreciates Pakistan’s Support
In response, Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz for his expression of sympathy and solidarity, acknowledging Pakistan’s unwavering support in difficult times. Both leaders reaffirmed the deep fraternal ties between Pakistan and Qatar, and agreed to continue cooperation and diplomatic engagement to promote peace and stability in the region.
The call comes amid growing international outrage over the Israeli strike in Doha, which targeted residential buildings reportedly housing members of Hamas’s political bureau. The incident has been widely condemned by regional powers and has intensified calls for global intervention.
