Challenge Fashion to expand operations; PM announces upcoming B2B conference in China
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistanโs commitment to strengthening economic cooperation with China, following a high-level meeting with a delegation from the Chinese garments firm Challenge Fashion Private Limited. The discussions focused on deepening business ties and expanding Chinese investment in Pakistan’s textile and industrial sectors.
During the meeting, PM Shehbaz emphasized the unique and time-tested friendship between Pakistan and China, noting that both nations have consistently supported each other through every challenge. He welcomed the increasing engagement between the two countriesโ private sectors and highlighted the importance of continued collaboration for mutual economic growth.
To promote stronger business partnerships, the prime minister announced that a Business-to-Business (B2B) conference will soon be held in China, aimed at facilitating direct linkages between entrepreneurs and companies from both nations.
Encouraging greater Chinese industrial presence in Pakistan, PM Shehbaz urged companies to establish manufacturing units in the country and praised Challenge Groupโs long-term commitment to the Pakistani market. He especially lauded the companyโs efforts in setting up a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and directed relevant authorities to provide all necessary support and infrastructure to ensure the project’s success.
The prime minister said the SEZ would be a key driver of technology transfer, skills development, and sustainable industrial growth, helping boost Pakistanโs export capacity and job creation.
During the briefing, the Chairman of Challenge Group shared that the company has already invested $17 million in Pakistan since 2014, with plans underway to develop a state-of-the-art textile facility.
Following the discussions, PM Shehbaz formally inaugurated the Challenge Group Special Economic Zone, marking a significant milestone in Sino-Pak economic cooperation.
