Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a policy to boost the export of halal meat, aiming to strengthen Pakistanโs position in the global halal market.
The approval follows a review meeting on the halal meat export policy chaired by the prime minister, during which he directed officials to present a detailed implementation plan within two weeks.
PM Shehbaz emphasized the need for a comprehensive three-year strategy to expand Pakistanโs share in both regional Muslim countries and the broader international halal meat market. He highlighted that effective coordination among federal ministries and provincial governments is crucial for the success of this collective strategy.
The prime minister instructed the committee to propose actionable measures to enhance halal meat production, cold storage, and related infrastructure. โHalal meat production in livestock must meet international standards,โ he noted, stressing the importance of quality assurance to meet global market expectations.
Special attention will be given to increasing regional production volumes and establishing organized centers for halal meat processing. These centers are expected to improve production efficiency and ensure nutritional standards are maintained, aligning Pakistanโs halal meat exports with international benchmarks.
The policy aims not only to enhance production but also to improve supply chain management, storage, and distribution to facilitate seamless export processes.
PM Shehbaz called for proactive steps to ensure the countryโs halal meat industry becomes more competitive, productive, and globally recognized.
With these measures, Pakistan seeks to capitalize on the growing demand for halal meat worldwide, reinforcing its reputation as a reliable supplier of high-quality products.
The prime ministerโs directives reflect a strategic push to modernize the sector, boost exports, and support the livelihoods of local livestock farmers while ensuring compliance with international standards.
