In an unexpected twist during the ongoing privatization process of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the price of its Class B shares has soared by more than Rs18,000 in just a month — rising from Rs4,000 to over Rs22,000 per share.
The sharp and unusual spike has caught the attention of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), which has formally sought an explanation from PIA Holding Company regarding the sudden and unexplained market movement.
In response to the PSX’s query, PIA stated in an official communication that it is unaware of any specific developments or material information that could justify such a dramatic increase in share price.
The company further added that it has no additional disclosures to make at this time.
