Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has launched in-flight celebrations to mark the country’s “historic victory” in Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, a recent large-scale military operation against India. The initiative, which began on Wednesday, includes cake-cutting ceremonies on all domestic and international routes.
A PIA spokesperson said the airline is commemorating the national achievement by sharing the moment with passengers across its flight network. “Passengers on board will experience special in-flight hospitality as part of the celebration,” the spokesperson added.
The celebratory gestures are not limited to flights within Pakistan. Passengers on international routes—such as those to Toronto, France, and various Gulf countries—are also partaking in the festivities.
Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos was officially named after a Quranic inscription found on the mihrab of a mosque destroyed in an Indian airstrike in Muzaffarabad. The operation represented a significant retaliatory action by Pakistan’s military and was widely recognized as a major success.
Meanwhile, India suspended operations at 20 airports in its northern and western regions until May 10, leading to the cancellation of at least 200 domestic flights, according to officials as of May 7.
The recent escalation in hostilities along the Line of Control (LoC) brought intense military engagements, with Pakistani forces mounting a strong response to Indian aggression. These developments highlighted the evolving dynamics and heightened tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
