Balochistan
Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistanโs top military commander, has made it unequivocally clear that the country will not compromise on the peace and stability of Balochistan. Speaking at a grand jirga in Quetta alongside Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the field marshal delivered a strong and determined message, stating that all conspiracies against Pakistanโwhether originating from within or beyond its bordersโwill be defeated.
Addressing a gathering that included tribal elders, community leaders, and families of martyrs, Field Marshal Munir directly accused India of orchestrating terrorism in Balochistan through its proxy networks. โIndia is behind the terrorist networks operating in Balochistan. Its proxy war is no longer covert โ it has now become open aggression,โ he asserted.
He reaffirmed the resolve of the Pakistan Army to defend the province, safeguard its territorial integrity, and protect its people from any form of threat or violence.
โThere will be no compromise on peace in Balochistan,โ Munir emphasized. โThe future of Pakistan is intrinsically linked to Balochistan. The armed forces are fully prepared to counter all threats and stand firmly with the people of this province.โ
His statement comes at a time when the region is grappling with a renewed wave of violence, including cross-border terrorism and sabotage targeting civilians and security personnel alike. The security situation has heightened national concern, making the leadershipโs commitment to stability all the more significant.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, echoing the field marshalโs sentiments, condemned Indiaโs attempts to destabilize the region through acts of sabotage. โIndia is targeting peace and progress in Balochistan,โ he said. โGroups like Fitna-ul-Hindustan are spreading disinformation and inciting unrest, but the stateโbacked by its peopleโwill take the war against terrorism to its logical end.โ
Sharif emphasized that no terrorist organization will be allowed to operate in Pakistan, and he pledged that the government would leave no room for such elements to flourish. He also highlighted the importance of accelerating development initiatives in the province to counter extremist narratives.
To support this, the Prime Minister announced upcoming economic packages aimed at improving infrastructure, education, and employment opportunities in Balochistan. โThese projects must be implemented in a way that the benefits directly reach the people,โ he added, acknowledging the vital role Balochistanโs youth and tribal elders have played in promoting national unity.
The jirga served as a key platform for building consensus between the government, military leadership, and tribal communities, emphasizing mutual cooperation in addressing security concerns and fostering long-term peace and development in the province.
