The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially begun preliminary discussions on central contracts for national players for the 2025–26 season.
The current cycle of contracts, introduced in 2023 under former chairman Zaka Ashraf, is due to conclude on June 30. Despite leadership changes, Chairman Mohsin Naqvi opted to retain the existing financial structure last year, and a similar approach is expected this year.
According to sources, while the general framework of the contracts is likely to remain unchanged, minor adjustments in player categories are being considered.
Emerging domestic talent is expected to be promoted to the D category, recognizing their recent performances and potential.
The announcement of new contracts is anticipated in October, continuing the timeline established last year when the contract list was revealed on October 27.
Under the current system, players are categorized based on their performance and seniority. Last year, 2 players were awarded A category contracts, 3 were placed in B, 9 in C, and 11 in D.
