The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has extended the deadline for submitting bids for two new Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises, citing strong international interest.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced that the original deadline of December 15 has been pushed back to December 22, 2025, to accommodate growing inquiries from investors in Europe, the United States, the Middle East, and beyond.
Naqvi shared the update on X, highlighting that the extension coincides with a promotional PSL roadshow in New York City. The event featured current Pakistani players, including T20 captain Salman Ali Agha, Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Saim Ayub, Shan Masood, and Saud Shakeel, alongside legends Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja, and singer Ali Zafar.
The New York roadshow follows a similar event held at London’s Lord’s Cricket Ground last week, aimed at attracting global investment ahead of the PSL’s expansion.
The league will grow to eight teams for its 11th edition in 2026, marking its first major structural expansion since Multan Sultans joined in 2018. The addition of new franchises is expected to enhance the PSL’s commercial appeal and competitiveness on the international T20 circuit. The auction for the new teams is anticipated to take place shortly after the bidding process concludes.
Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as Pakistan’s Interior Minister, emphasized the PCB’s commitment to transparent bidding and infrastructure development, underlining efforts to elevate the PSL’s global standing.
The extension reflects the league’s rising international profile and the increasing interest of investors seeking to be part of Pakistan’s premier T20 tournament.
With growing global attention and high-profile promotional events, the PSL continues to solidify its position as a prominent league on the international cricket stage. Investors now have additional time to participate in shaping the league’s next phase of expansion, potentially ushering in new commercial opportunities and strengthening the tournament’s global fan base.
