The Board of Governors of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) approved key initiatives to enhance both domestic and international cricket during a video-linked meeting chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
Among the major decisions, the board formally approved the second phase of renovation for the National Stadium in Karachi, aimed at modernising the facility to meet international standards. Additionally, the upgrade of the LCCA Ground was approved, with plans to model it after Englandโs iconic Oval Ground, reflecting PCBโs commitment to world-class cricket infrastructure.
The board also acknowledged the success of Pakistan Super League (PSL) roadshows held in London and New York. Chairman Naqvi and his team were commended for their professionalism and efforts in promoting PSL as a globally recognised brand.
Naqvi himself received a resolution of appreciation for his role in ensuring the continuation of the recent Sri Lankan team tour, although he credited the entire PCB team for the achievement.
Plans for PSL 11 were also announced, including hosting matches in Muzaffarabad, Azad Kashmir, highlighting the PCBโs intention to expand cricket beyond traditional venues. Future international matches are also envisioned for Muzaffarabad. Furthermore, a state-of-the-art cricket stadium will be constructed in Islamabad, enhancing the capitalโs cricketing infrastructure.
The meeting included detailed briefings on strengthening the domestic cricket structure, regional-level club scrutiny, and increasing the number of lower-tier tournaments and matches. The board also discussed upcoming ICC Womenโs and Menโs tournaments, aiming to boost Pakistanโs presence in international cricket.
Senior officials from PCB and PSL attended the session, underlining the boardโs collective commitment to improving cricket facilities, governance, and global outreach. These measures represent a significant step toward building a stronger domestic cricket framework while elevating Pakistanโs status in the international cricket arena.
