ISLAMABAD: The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has launched a Digital Integrated Dashboard to monitor passport applications, printing, and deliveries in real time, aiming to speed up processing and improve services for citizens.
In a statement issued on Monday, the DGIP said it has established a dedicated 24/7 monitoring room at its headquarters on the instructions of Director General Immigration and Passports, Mustafa Jamal Kazi. The facility will strengthen daily oversight of passport printing, delivery operations, and the performance of passport offices across the country.
According to the statement, the new dashboard will track every stage of the passport process, from the submission of applications to the final delivery of documents. The system will also automatically identify unusual rush or congestion at passport offices, allowing authorities to respond quickly and manage workloads more effectively.
System to track staff performance, backlogs, and machinery status
The DGIP said the modern monitoring mechanism will keep a close watch on staff performance and the overall passport printing process. At the same time, a network management system will monitor backlogs, technical issues and the operational status of printing machinery to prevent delays.
Officials said the real-time data will help senior management take timely decisions, redistribute resources where needed and resolve bottlenecks before they affect applicants. By identifying problems early, the department expects to reduce waiting times and improve efficiency at passport offices.
Speaking about the initiative, DG Mustafa Jamal Kazi said the digital dashboard would further enhance the DGIPโs performance and transparency. He said the system would monitor everything from the performance of officers and staff to the daily rush of citizens at passport offices nationwide.
Kazi added that the department has also introduced a mechanism to address issues immediately after identification. He said rapid response to operational problems would help restore public confidence and ensure smoother service delivery for applicants.
Global monitoring to improve services at foreign missions
The DGIP said the digital dashboard will not only enhance performance within Pakistan but will also extend to all Pakistani missions abroad. Real-time evaluation of passport services at foreign missions will allow the department to maintain consistent standards and address complaints from overseas Pakistanis more effectively.
Officials noted that the global monitoring feature would help improve coordination between headquarters and missions, leading to faster processing times and better services for applicants worldwide.
The DGIP said the launch of the Digital Integrated Dashboard reflects its commitment to modernisation, transparency and citizen-focused service delivery, adding that further digital reforms are planned to strengthen Pakistanโs passport system.
