ISLAMABAD: At least eight family members were killed and two others injured when a passenger van plunged into a drain near Khara Mor on Raiwind Road in Kasur, Punjab.
Rescue operations transported the casualties to Bulleh Shah Hospital. Officials confirmed that all those aboard the van were from the same family. Initial reports indicate the victims were returning to Kasur after attending a wedding ceremony when the accident occurred, possibly due to the driver’s alleged drowsiness.
The deceased have been identified as Laiba, Imran, Salman, Sani, and Maqsood.
In a separate incident in Multan, a truck loaded with stones overturned onto a house, killing three people who were trapped under the debris. Their bodies were moved to the hospital.
This follows a tragic crash last week on the Indus Highway near Manjhand, Jamshoro district, where a head-on collision between an SUV and a car killed at least 10 people, including Zain Turabi, the son of the late Allama Hassan Turabi, and injured over 30 others.
Additionally, a van carrying pilgrims to Shahbaz Qalandar’s shrine in Nawabshah, Sindh, overturned, resulting in six deaths and 10 injuries.
