There was an impressive increase in the remittances of Pakistani laborers in the month of March, 2026 for Pakistan. As reported in Thursday’s press release of State Bank of Pakistan, the total amount that entered the country as remittance payments from abroad is $3.83 billion. This number has shown an improvement of 16.5% from February but still represents a 5.5% decline from March last year.
Gulf countries continue to lead inflows
As anticipated, Saudi Arabia emerged as the top donor with its share reaching a sum of $918.4 million. In the meantime, the United Arab Emirates came next in line with their share being at $823.7 million. Inside the United Arab Emirates, Dubai was the leading donor accounting for $591.0 million, followed by Abu Dhabi with $202.9 million.
Also noteworthy is the fact that other Gulf countries donated $366.7 million in total. The amount donated by Qatar was $110.2 million, while Oman donated $115.8 million, Kuwait $83.9 million and Bahrain $56.9 million. Such figures clearly demonstrate Pakistan’s dependency on remittances from the region of the Gulf, which hosts many migrants.
Western economies also play a key role
However, remittances from the Western world were robust. The United Kingdom provided $587.3 million, and $359.3 million was received from the United States. Europe Union countries sent $413.8 million, including contributions from Italy, Spain, Germany, and France.
In addition, remittances from other parts of the world also provided assistance. $80.8 million was received from Canada, and $105.4 million was sent by Australia, while lesser amounts were remitted from Malaysia and Japan.
In general, these figures indicate that there is stability in the remittance flow. For many people living in Pakistan, these flows provide a financial lifeline.
