Pakistan’s remittance inflows amounted to $3.1 billion in February 2025, reflecting a 3.8% increase compared to $3 billion in January 2025, according to data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) released on Monday.
Year-on-year, remittances surged by 38.6%, up from $2.25 billion in February 2024.
For the period of July to February FY25, total remittances reached $24.0 billion, marking a 32.5% increase compared to $18.1 billion during the same period in FY24.
These remittances are crucial for supporting Pakistan’s external account, driving economic activity, and supplementing the incomes of households dependent on overseas earnings.
Breakdown of Remittances
- Saudi Arabia: Overseas Pakistanis in Saudi Arabia sent the largest share, remitting $744.4 million in February 2025. This represented a 2.21% monthly increase and a 37.88% rise compared to $539.9 million in the same month last year.
- United Arab Emirates (UAE): Remittances from the UAE increased by 4.94% month-on-month, rising from $621.5 million in January to $652.2 million in February. Compared to February 2024, this marked a significant 69.49% increase from $384.8 million.
- United Kingdom: The UK remitted $501.8 million in February 2025, a 13.12% increase from $443.6 million in January. Year-on-year, remittances from the UK grew by 45.03%.
- United States: Remittances from the US amounted to $309.4 million, showing a 3.41% increase from January 2025.
