Pakistan’s Hassan Ali Bhola brought pride to the nation by clinching a bronze medal in the 70kg category at the Asian Youth Games Beach Wrestling competition. His victory marks Pakistan’s only medal in the wrestling event, showcasing the country’s rising talent in the sport.

Abdul Rahman Misses Out Despite Strong Start
In the 80kg category, Pakistan’s Abdul Rahman came agonizingly close to securing a medal but fell short in his bronze medal match against a Jordanian opponent. Despite the loss, his performance drew praise for his resilience and skill during the earlier stages of the competition.
Abdul Rahman started his campaign in impressive fashion, defeating Saudi Arabia’s Hamid Tariq Al-Majrashi (0-2) and South Korea’s Kim Ya-chin in consecutive matches. His strong group-stage performance placed him second in his pool, advancing him to the semi-finals. However, he was outmatched by Iran’s Toraj Khodai (0-2), which pushed him into the bronze medal contest.
Promising Future for Pakistan in Beach Wrestling
Both Hassan Ali and Abdul Rahman advanced to the semi-finals of their respective weight classes, reflecting Pakistan’s growing potential in beach wrestling — a discipline that is gaining popularity across Asia.
In the semi-finals, Hassan Ali faced Iran’s Sina Shokohi and was defeated, while Abdul Rahman also suffered a loss to Toraj Khodai. However, Hassan Ali’s ability to bounce back and secure a medal demonstrated Pakistan’s competitive edge and commitment to developing young talent in the sport.
During the group stages, Hassan Ali began with a win against Jordan’s Abdul Rahman (0-2) and narrowly lost to India’s Sanjay Nagnath (1-2). With two victories in three matches, he qualified for the semi-finals and ultimately earned a podium finish.
Meanwhile, Abdul Rahman’s campaign featured two group-stage victories before a close defeat against India’s Ravinder, which still secured him a semi-final berth.
The strong performances by both athletes underline Pakistan’s promise in wrestling at the youth level, setting the stage for greater achievements in future regional and international competitions.
