ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s exports surged by $1.61 billion during the first ten months of the current fiscal year, reaching $26.90 billion, according to the latest data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
This marks a 6.40% year-on-year increase, compared to $25.27 billion recorded during the same period last year.
Despite global economic headwinds, textile exports—Pakistan’s largest export sector—saw significant growth. From July to April, textile shipments rose by 8.41%, totaling $14.83 billion, with an increase of $1.15 billion over the same period last year.
Key contributors to the textile sector’s performance included ready-made garments, knitwear, bed linen, towels, silk products, and other apparel.
Meanwhile, exports of manufactured goods also posted a 6.61% increase, amounting to $3.50 billion. Major items in this category included carpets, sports goods, footballs, and various industrial products.
The positive export trend offers cautious optimism for Pakistan’s trade outlook, particularly in light of challenges in global demand and supply chains.
