KARACHI: Sufiyan Muqeem, Mohammad Nawaz, and Usama Mir have been given permission to play in the Vitality T20 Blast scheduled for 2026 in England. Fast bowler Mohammad Abbas will be eligible to feature in several county matches for Derbyshire.
The PCB issued No Objection Certificates to the current PSL 11 players. While Sufiyan Muqeem will get only a brief period between May 22 and June 7, Mohammad Nawaz and Usama Mir have been given more time.
Abbas Set for Extended County Campaign
In addition to that, Mohammad Abbas was given permission for stints in Derbyshire in April, May, June, and then from August to September. This arrangement should ensure he does not get overworked, but he can gain some red ball cricketing experience in England.
Usama Mir comes into the side as an experienced player in the T20 Blast format. He has played in 2023 for Worcestershire, picking up 19 wickets in 11 matches with a great economy rate of 7.29. Nawaz and Sufiyan both will be making their debuts in the tournament.
Busy Summer Ahead for Pakistan Stars
Also, the 2026 Vitality T20 Blast will take place between May 22 and July 18. The trio is at present playing in the current Pakistan Super League where Sufiyan is playing for Peshawar Zalmi while Nawaz is playing for Multan Sultans and Usama Mir for Lahore Qalandars.
It provides a great chance for the trio to gain some experience in T20 cricket played in England, develop their skills, and increase their chances of performing in international matches. County cricket proves to be a platform for the players coming from Pakistan to develop themselves in the sport.
Cricket enthusiasts will be eagerly waiting for their performance in the competition starting next month.
