Pakistani singer-turned-actor Fawad Khan, who will turn 43 this November, continues to captivate fans both domestically and internationally as a heartthrob and beloved celebrity.
Despite his mature appearance and the experience etched on his face, which has garnered him a larger fan following than many younger talents in the entertainment industry, Fawad acknowledges the genuine concern of aging. In a recent interview, he discussed the challenges of growing older while remaining in the limelight.
“Being in this industry, there’s a certain pressure tied to appearances that can weigh heavily, even for men,” explained the Humsafar star, shedding light on the impact of aging on an actor’s career.
Nevertheless, he sees a “silver lining” in roles like his upcoming web series Barzakh, where performance takes precedence over conventional romantic ideals. According to Fawad, these roles provide actors with the opportunity to truly embody their characters, where physical appearance takes a backseat.
“Beyond the film industry, the fear of aging is universal,” Fawad added. “Personally, I feel like I’m experiencing a mid-life awakening.”
Reflecting on his life journey, Fawad revealed a deep awareness of life’s impermanence since his youth, influenced by the passing of childhood idols such as Moin Akhtar, Junaid Jamshed, and Michael Jackson.
“It’s not just individuals we lose, but their memories too, which fade with time and generations,” he lamented.
For Fawad, concerns about entering the autumn of life extend beyond himself to worries about loved ones and their future. “There’s a spiritual aspect ingrained in us, believing that God sustains all things. Finding peace in that is essential,” he remarked.
Known for his memorable roles in drama serials like Humsafar and Zindagi Gulzar Hai, as well as Bollywood films Khoobsurat and Kapoor & Sons, Fawad is gearing up for his debut in the over-the-top platform with Zee 5 Global’s Barzakh, co-starring with former colleague Sanam Saeed.
