The Pakistani Embassy, in collaboration with Rome’s leading gelato brand, unveiled ‘Chaunsa Gelato’ during Independence Day celebrations at Piazza Navona.
The launch event, held in the historic Piazza Navona, was organized in collaboration with one of Rome’s most popular gelato companies, drawing a large crowd of diplomats, business leaders, government officials, and members of the public.
Fabrizio, the owner of the renowned gelato brand, praised the distinct characteristics of the Chaunsa mango, describing its sweetness, smooth texture, and fragrant aroma as exceptional. He noted that the mango’s natural sugar content made it especially suitable for producing premium-quality gelato, combining authenticity with indulgence.
Ambassador Ali Javed highlighted the significance of this collaboration, commending Fabrizio for skillfully merging Pakistani mango excellence with Italian gelato artistry. He emphasized that Chaunsa’s success in Rome was only the beginning and expressed the Embassy’s intention to introduce other high-value Pakistani products to Italian markets.
These include thin-shelled almonds, freshly harvested walnuts, apricot kernels, saffron from Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and long-grain pine nuts, which are considered among the finest in the world.
Looking ahead, Ambassador Javed revealed that Pakistan’s National Day in March coincides with the citrus season, making it an ideal opportunity to launch ‘Kinnow Gelato’ in partnership with Frigidarium, thereby further strengthening cultural and gastronomic ties.
Fabrizio, in turn, expressed enthusiasm for expanding this partnership, stating his vision to take the gelato tradition “across new frontiers” by incorporating premium Pakistani fruits into Italian dessert culture.
The Chaunsa Gelato Festival was met with great enthusiasm, not only introducing Italian audiences to Pakistan’s agricultural richness but also reaffirming the Embassy’s commitment to enhancing Pakistan’s soft image abroad.
The initiative formed part of a broader series of cultural diplomacy activities undertaken to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day and the Day of Defence of the Nation, showcasing the country’s agricultural treasures as a symbol of pride and friendship.
