Pakistan’s remarkable journey at the Asian Youth Games reached new heights on Monday as the national men’s volleyball team stormed into the final after defeating Indonesia 3–1 in the semifinals.
The victory not only secured Pakistan a guaranteed silver medal but also placed them one win away from claiming gold at the continental stage — a feat that would mark a major milestone for the country’s emerging volleyball talent.
Despite a slow start, Pakistan showed tremendous resilience. Indonesia claimed the opening set 25–22, but the green shirts rallied strongly to win the next three sets 25–13, 25–19, and 26–24, showcasing powerful attacking, tactical discipline, and composure under pressure.
Key contributors included Khizar Hayat, Muhammad Yahya, Muhammad Anas, and Ajmal Junaid — all of whom have been instrumental throughout the tournament with their sharp serving, dominant blocking, and accurate spiking.
Pakistan’s overall performance has been impressive, with the team dropping only two sets across six consecutive victories — one to Saudi Arabia in the Top 8 stage and another to Indonesia in the semifinal.
This consistency has boosted confidence ahead of the final clash against volleyball powerhouse Iran, scheduled for Wednesday.
Iran earned their spot in the final after a commanding 3–0 win over Thailand, setting the stage for an electrifying showdown between two teams that have built a spirited junior-level rivalry in recent years.
Pakistan has previously managed only one bronze medal at the Asian Youth Games, but this year’s campaign has already surpassed expectations. With their eyes set on gold, the young squad now stands on the brink of making history — a potential turning point for Pakistan’s volleyball scene and a proud moment for the nation’s growing pool of athletic talent.
