Pakistan on Wednesday expressed deep concern over the resurgence of violence in Yemen amid rising tensions in the Middle East. In a statement, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi affirmed that Pakistan stands in complete solidarity with Saudi Arabia and reiterates its commitment to the kingdomโs security.
The spokesperson emphasized that Islamabad continues to support the unity and territorial integrity of Yemen. Pakistan is also backing all efforts aimed at establishing lasting peace and stability in the war-torn country, highlighting its preference for dialogue and diplomacy as the means to resolve the ongoing conflict.
The recent escalation followed a Saudi-led coalition airstrike on the southern Yemeni port city of Mukalla, targeting alleged foreign military support for UAE-backed southern separatists. The United Arab Emirates, displeased with the Riyadh-led operation, announced that it had voluntarily ended the mission of its counterterrorism units in Yemen.
Reacting to the situation, the Foreign Office stressed that Pakistan strongly opposes unilateral actions by any Yemeni party that could further escalate tensions, undermine peace initiatives, or threaten the stability of Yemen and the wider region. Islamabad also welcomed regional efforts aimed at de-escalating the crisis and maintaining stability in Yemen.
The spokesperson reiterated Pakistanโs firm support for a negotiated solution and emphasized that sustainable peace can only be achieved through inclusive dialogue. He expressed hope that Yemenโs people, together with regional powers, would work collaboratively toward an enduring resolution of the conflict, ensuring long-term regional security.
Pakistanโs statement underscores its balanced approach to Middle Eastern affairs, promoting both regional stability and humanitarian considerations. By advocating diplomacy, dialogue, and coordination with regional actors, Islamabad aims to contribute to the restoration of peace and normalcy in Yemen while maintaining strong ties with key partners, including Saudi Arabia.
