ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has called on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to take urgent action to secure an indefinite ceasefire in Gaza and to halt ongoing Israeli military attacks.
In a statement, the Pakistani government expressed deep concern over the escalating violence and the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where civilian casualties and destruction have been mounting as a result of Israeli airstrikes and military operations. Pakistan emphasized that the UNSC must act decisively to prevent further loss of innocent lives and to ensure the protection of Palestinians’ fundamental rights.
“Pakistan urges the UNSC to prioritize efforts for a permanent ceasefire, which would pave the way for long-term peace and stability in the region,” the statement said. “It is critical that Israel immediately ceases its military offensive and upholds its international obligations under humanitarian law, particularly regarding the protection of civilians.”
The statement also condemned the continuous airstrikes on Gaza, which have targeted residential areas, infrastructure, and essential services, causing significant suffering to the Palestinian population.
Pakistan reiterated its support for the Palestinian cause, calling for the international community to hold Israel accountable for its actions and to push for the resumption of meaningful negotiations towards a two-state solution, with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.
As the situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, Pakistan remains committed to advocating for peace and justice for the Palestinian people at all international forums.
