ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will soon receive another 40 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine from the COVAX facility.
The United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Pakistan today said till March 2022, Pakistan will be given 40 million more Covid doses to curb rapidly growing coronavirus pandemic in the country.

According to the UNICEF Pakistan, since May 2021, Pakistan has already received more than 91 million doses of the vaccine through the COVAX programme, almost 50 percent of the total 175 million doses, administered throughout the country so far.

The UNICEF also delivered 41 ultra-cold chain equipment and a huge quantity of personal protective equipment, syringes, laboratory equipment, and other essential supplies to combat the pandemic.
UNICEF Pakistan is also helping the government to manage the gender gap in COVID-19 vaccination through door-to-door vaccination drives, in addition to the establishment of vaccine booths for women, and recruiting female vaccinators.
COVAX is co-led by Gavi, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), and the World Health Organization that aims to accelerate the development and manufacturing of COVID-19 vaccines with fair and equitable access for every country in the world.
