The National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) has announced that Pakistan will conduct its second nationwide anti-polio campaign of 2026 from April 13 to 19, aiming to vaccinate more than 45 million children. Officials said the campaign reflects continued efforts to eradicate polio and protect children from the debilitating disease.
According to the National Emergency Operations Centre, health teams will also administer Vitamin A supplements to boost childrenโs immunity and improve overall health outcomes. Authorities added that nearly 413,000 frontline workers will participate in the campaign, carrying out door-to-door visits to ensure comprehensive coverage.
Regional targets set for maximum outreach
Meanwhile, officials have outlined province-wise vaccination targets to streamline the campaign. Punjab will cover more than 23 million children, while Sindh aims to vaccinate 10.6 million. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, over 7.2 million children will receive polio drops.
In addition, more than 2.6 million children in Balochistan are included in the campaign plan. Islamabad has a target of 460,000 children, while Gilgit-Baltistan aims to vaccinate over 228,000. Similarly, more than 760,000 children will be covered in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Authorities stress collective responsibility
Health authorities have emphasised that protecting children from polio remains a shared national responsibility. Therefore, they have urged parents to cooperate fully with vaccination teams and ensure that every eligible child receives the life-saving drops.
Furthermore, officials highlighted the importance of routine immunisation for children from birth to 15 months. They noted that completing vaccination schedules protects against multiple preventable diseases, strengthening long-term public health.
