Islamabad, Pakistan โ The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has successfully conducted the flight test of the indigenously developed Taimoor Weapon System, marking a major milestone in the countryโs defence and aerospace capabilities, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Saturday.
Advanced Capabilities of Taimoor Missile
According to the ISPR, the Taimoor Air-Launched Cruise Missile can strike land and sea targets with high precision at a range of 600 kilometres. Equipped with a state-of-the-art navigation and guidance system, the missile is designed to fly at very low altitudes, enabling it to evade hostile air and missile defence systems.
The militaryโs media wing emphasized that the missileโs precision-strike capability significantly enhances the conventional deterrence and operational flexibility of the PAF, reinforcing Pakistanโs overall defence posture.
โThe successful flight test reflects Pakistan Air Forceโs commitment to operational readiness, technological superiority, and national security objectives,โ the ISPR said.
National Achievement in Defence Technology
The test launch was witnessed by senior officers of the Pakistan Armed Forces, as well as scientists and engineers who contributed to the missileโs development. Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, congratulated the team, praising their professional excellence, dedication, and commitment to strengthening the nationโs defence capabilities.
He stated that the achievement demonstrates Pakistanโs resolve to achieve technological self-sufficiency and maintain a credible conventional deterrent in a changing regional security environment.
The ISPR described the successful launch as a testament to Pakistanโs defence industry innovation, technical maturity, and self-reliance. The missile system further enhances the PAFโs operational flexibility and deterrence strategy, particularly in regional security dynamics.
Continuation of Indigenous Missile Developments
The Taimoor flight test follows a similar achievement by the Pakistan Navy, which in November last year successfully tested an indigenously developed ship-launched anti-ship ballistic missile. Like the Taimoor, the naval missile can engage both land and sea targets with high precision and is equipped with advanced guidance technology and enhanced manoeuvrability to operate effectively in complex maritime environments.
These developments signal Pakistanโs ongoing commitment to strengthening national defence and advancing indigenous technological capabilities across its armed forces, reinforcing the countryโs strategic and conventional deterrence posture.
