In a stern response to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pakistan demanded on Tuesday that he stop making irrational claims that the Kashmir dispute had been settled unilaterally and that his absurd assertions were both false and misleading, demonstrating how ignorant the Indian leadership had grown of the realities on the ground in the illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K).
The Foreign Office responded on Tuesday to a ridiculous claim made by Modi at a rally in the Indian state of Gujarat, in which he boasted that while “one person” was unable to resolve the Kashmir issue, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel skillfully handled matters relating to the merger of other princely states.
He claimed, “As I am following in Sardar Saheb’s footsteps, I have values of Sardar Saheb’s land, and that was the reason I handled the Kashmir dispute and gave true tribute to Sardar Patel.
Pakistan hit back, saying, “Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognised issue, and the settlement of which has been on the UN’s agenda since 1948.” Despite unambiguous UN resolutions that prescribe a free and impartial plebiscite for the final settlement of the dispute, India has not only illegally occupied the land but is also guilty of atrocious human rights violations utilising over 900,000 violent occupation force.
“The people of IIOJ&K continue to brave India’s abhorrent occupation, which it wants to maintain by deceitful demographic changes and coercive measures. The Foreign Office stated that the slyly staged visits of the Indian leadership to the occupied territory and the choreographed launches of so-called development projects in an effort to present a front of normalcy won’t dampen the spirit of the Kashmiris fighting to end India’s illegal occupation nor would they fool the world into believing India’s deception.
Altaf Shah, Syed Ali Geelani’s son-in-law, died on Tuesday in a Delhi hospital. His body was not released in time for him to be flown back to Srinagar, which is one recent example of how alarmed Modi was about the response from the people of Kashmir in the valley. He died a prisoner despite his family’s pleadings for him to pass away in freedom. He had acute kidney cancer, but because to humanitarian concerns neither his family was allowed to visit him nor was he given bail.
On Tuesday, Pakistan also called for the immediate return of Altaf Ahmed Shah’s mortal remains to his family in order to carry out a suitable burial in accordance with their desires.
The Foreign Office continued, “Instead of making irrational claims that the conflict has been resolved unilaterally, the Indian leadership must fulfil its commitments to Kashmiris and the international community and ensure that the people of Kashmir are granted their inalienable right to self-determination.”
