ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Pavilion was inaugurated at the China-Eurasia Expo in Urumqi, drawing significant attention for its display of premium Pakistani mangoes, which attracted hundreds of visitors and highlighted the country’s agricultural strengths and export capabilities.
The pavilion was jointly inaugurated by Ambassador Khalil Hashmi and Mr. Zhu Lifan, Vice Chairman of the Xinjiang People’s Government.
This year marked the first-ever participation of the National Logistics Corporation (NLC) and the Green Pakistan Initiative at the Expo—adding a new dimension to Pakistan’s presence.
Alongside mangoes, the pavilion featured a diverse range of Pakistani products including jewelry, leather garments, designer bags, and modern apparel, offering a vibrant reflection of Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage and growing manufacturing sector.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Hashmi briefed Mr. Zhu on the strong Pakistan-China bilateral relationship, with a renewed emphasis on expanding trade and investment ties, particularly with Xinjiang province.
The ambassador gave Mr. Zhu a guided tour of the pavilion, highlighting the exceptional quality of Pakistani exports. According to a press release, the Chinese official praised the flavor and freshness of Pakistani mangoes.
Hashmi also introduced the work of the NLC, noting its critical role in strengthening border logistics and integration between the two countries. He further briefed the Chinese official on the Green Pakistan Initiative, which aims to deepen people-to-people connections and promote sustainable development in collaboration with Xinjiang.
During his visit to the region, Ambassador Hashmi engaged with Xinjiang government officials, met with Chinese enterprises and media, and visited the Urumqi branch of Habib Bank Limited, reinforcing Pakistan’s commitment to deepening ties across multiple sectors.
