ISLAMABAD: At least 11 terrorists were killed in four separate security operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on March 26-27, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
According to the militaryโs media wing, an intelligence-based operation was conducted in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan district.
โDuring the operation, security forces effectively engaged the terrorists, eliminating five of them,โ the statement said.
In a second operation within the same area, troops neutralized three more militants, bringing the total to eight in North Waziristan.
Another encounter took place in Miran Shah, where two more terrorists were eliminated, the ISPR added.
The fourth operation was carried out in Daraban, Dera Ismail Khan district, resulting in the death of one terrorist.
Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the militants, who were reportedly involved in multiple terrorist activities. Security forces have launched a sanitization operation in the affected areas to prevent further threats.
Rising Cross-Border Tensions
These operations follow a significant counterterrorism effort last week, when at least 16 militants attempting to cross into Pakistan from Afghanistan were killed by security forces in the Ghulam Khan Kallay area of North Waziristan.
The resurgence of terrorist activities has intensified since the Talibanโs return to power in Afghanistan in 2021, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
According to data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), terrorist attacks surged by 42% in January 2025 compared to the previous month. A total of 74 attacks were recorded nationwide, resulting in 91 deaths, including 35 security personnel, 20 civilians, and 36 militants. An additional 117 people were injured.
As Pakistan continues to battle rising militancy, security forces remain committed to eliminating terrorist threats and ensuring national stability.
