Funding to support key sectors including energy, agriculture, finance, and governance
Pakistan will receive over $2 billion in development loans from the World Bank during the current fiscal year (FY2025–26), according to official documents released by the Economic Affairs Division.
The funds will be disbursed through the International Development Association (IDA) and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD)—the two key lending arms of the World Bank. The financing will support critical projects across multiple sectors, including agriculture, energy, water management, financial systems, revenue mobilization, governance, and social services.
Ongoing and Future World Bank Engagements in Pakistan
Currently, Pakistan is host to 57 active World Bank-funded projects, with a cumulative value of $16.6 billion. These projects span a wide range of developmental areas, such as:

In addition to the ongoing initiatives, the World Bank has committed an additional $8.6 billion for future projects, signaling continued support for Pakistan’s long-term economic and social development.

Over the past seven fiscal years, Pakistan has received a total of $11.84 billion in loans from the World Bank. Among all sectors, energy has received the largest share, amounting to $1.96 billion.
