ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has decided to temporarily withdraw non-essential diplomatic staff and their families from Iran, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Tuesday.
The move comes amid escalating tensions in the region following the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel, which has raised security concerns for foreign diplomatic missions.
Foreign Office sources described the step as a precautionary measure, aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of Pakistani personnel and their families stationed in Iran.
“Only staff members whose immediate presence is not necessary have been asked to return,” a senior official said.
Despite the partial withdrawal, Pakistan’s embassy in Tehran and its consulates across Iran will remain fully operational, ensuring the continuity of essential diplomatic functions and consular services.
Officials emphasized that the decision does not reflect a downgrading of diplomatic ties with Iran, but rather a routine adjustment in light of evolving security conditions in the region.
