Indian Cyber Propaganda
Islamabad, May 2, 2025: Amid escalating regional tensions and an intensifying wave of online disinformation allegedly linked to Indian sources, Pakistan has placed all relevant cyber defense agencies on high alert to safeguard the country’s digital infrastructure and national security.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) confirmed that the National Telecom Computer Emergency Response Team (NT-CERT), along with other key institutions, is actively monitoring the country’s critical digital assets, including web servers and communications networks.
According to a PTA spokesperson, no major Pakistani websites have suffered confirmed cyberattacks to date. However, comprehensive precautionary measures have been taken, including real-time surveillance, issuance of cyber alerts, and tighter control over sensitive online systems.
The PTA official emphasized that cyber security teams are operating around the clock and that every report of a cyber threat is being meticulously investigated. The spokesperson added, “Cyber security teams are on full alert and working tirelessly to defend Pakistan’s digital frontiers.”
In a simultaneous crackdown on digital subversion, law enforcement agencies have intensified cyber patrolling to monitor anti-state activity across social media platforms.
Police sources report that approximately 52,778 pages and accounts promoting anti-Pakistan propaganda have been identified. Of these, 11,132 have already been blocked by cybercrime units and other relevant authorities.
Authorities also disclosed that 18 potential terror plots were foiled through the interception and analysis of suspicious online communications.
Surveillance efforts spanned 54 different social media platforms, leading to actionable intelligence that disrupted the digital communication networks of several extremist outfits.
On April 30, the PTA launched a major operation to identify and neutralize Indian-backed bots and fake accounts running coordinated anti-Pakistan campaigns. As part of this effort, 46 suspicious URLs have been flagged and reported to platform operators for immediate action.
Officials stress that this is an ongoing campaign requiring continuous vigilance and coordination. Regulatory bodies have reaffirmed their commitment to reporting any account or URL involved in hostile information warfare to the appropriate platforms for swift removal.
Citizens are urged to remain alert online and report any suspicious digital activity to support national efforts in securing the country’s cyber ecosystem.
