The Pakistan Navy successfully conducted a live weapon firing exercise in the North Arabian Sea, demonstrating its operational readiness and war-fighting capabilities, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. The exercise, carried out on Sunday, involved a Pakistan Navy ship engaging highly manoeuvrable aerial targets using the FM-90(N) ER Surface-to-Air Missile system.
Rear Admiral Abdul Munib, Commander Pakistan Fleet, witnessed the live firing exercise onboard a Pakistan Navy Fleet unit. He praised the officers and personnel involved for their high levels of professionalism, dedication, and operational competence, noting that the exercise reflected the Navy’s continued commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s maritime interests.
According to ISPR, the exercise was designed to test the readiness and accuracy of Pakistan Navy personnel in responding to aerial threats at sea. The successful engagement of targets under operational conditions underscored the Navy’s capability to respond effectively to potential security challenges in the region.
Rear Admiral Munib emphasized that the Pakistan Navy remains fully prepared to ensure the seaward defence of the country and to protect national maritime assets under all circumstances. He highlighted that such exercises are vital to maintaining combat readiness, reinforcing operational skills, and enhancing coordination among naval units.
The FM-90(N) ER Surface-to-Air Missile system, employed in the exercise, is a key component of Pakistan Navy’s air defence capability. Its deployment and successful use in the live firing drill demonstrated both the technological proficiency and tactical competence of naval personnel.
ISPR noted that exercises like this are part of Pakistan Navy’s ongoing efforts to ensure that its fleet remains prepared for any contingencies and to uphold maritime security in the Arabian Sea. The Navy reiterated its unwavering resolve to defend Pakistan’s sea lines of communication, protect its economic interests at sea, and maintain operational superiority in its maritime domain.
Such demonstrations of capability serve not only as a test of the Navy’s readiness but also as a clear signal of Pakistan’s commitment to defending its maritime sovereignty and maintaining stability in regional waters.
