The government has announced that Ashra Rahmatul-lil-Alameen will be observed nationwide from the 1st to the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal with devotion and reverence, commemorating the 1,500th birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). The observances will include a series of national and provincial-level programs designed to highlight the teachings and life of the Prophet.
Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, chaired an inter-provincial meeting on Thursday, during which key decisions regarding the nationwide commemoration were finalized. He emphasized that the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony will host the 50th International Seerat-un-Nabi Conference in Islamabad.
The conference will carry the theme: “The State’s Responsibility in Educating and Training Youth for the Constructive Use of Social Media in the Light of Seerat-un-Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him),” reflecting the significance of integrating traditional values with modern communication platforms.
Sardar Yousaf underlined that the Ashra observances aim to instill awareness among the younger generation about the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him). Provincial and local governments will organize special gatherings, while schools, colleges, universities, and religious seminaries will conduct joint programs encouraging students to share their reflections on the Seerat.
He further highlighted that resolutions passed by the National Assembly and Senate provide the framework for these nationwide Seerat gatherings. Addressing contemporary societal challenges, Sardar Yousaf emphasized the importance of drawing lessons from the Prophet’s teachings in areas such as education, the economy, social values, and family systems.
“Only by following the Seerat of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) in action can we achieve success in this world and the hereafter,” he said. He also noted the critical role of social media in today’s digital age, pointing out that it offers an unprecedented opportunity to disseminate the universal message of guidance, compassion, and humanity taught by the Prophet, reinforcing the relevance of his teachings in contemporary society.
