Drone infiltrations also off the table, say Indian media reports
In a significant development amid rising regional tensions, the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of Pakistan and India held a rare communication, agreeing to honor the existing ceasefire agreement, avoid targeting civilian areas, and refrain from drone infiltrations, according to Indian media reports.
The renewed commitment to de-escalation comes as global powers intensify diplomatic efforts to ease hostilities between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
Khawaja Asif: Dialogue Conditional on Kashmir, Terrorism, and Water Issues
Speaking to journalists at Parliament House and later addressing a press briefing in Islamabad, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif laid out clear terms for any potential engagement with India.
“Talks, if they happen, will only revolve around Kashmir, terrorism, and water issues,” Asif stated, warning that any future provocation from India would trigger an even stronger response from Pakistan.
“If Modi’s India makes another move, the world will witness the second installment of Pakistan’s retaliation,” he warned.
Support from Global Powers
Asif noted that the recent de-escalation was facilitated by international diplomatic efforts. He named the United States, United Kingdom, China, Iran, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Qatar as countries that have supported Pakistan’s position and helped mediate during the crisis.
“This is a golden opportunity to resolve the Kashmir issue, and we welcome the mediation of our international partners,” the minister said.
He also endorsed U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent comments, in which Trump claimed that Washington helped avert a nuclear conflict between India and Pakistan.
“Trump’s intervention is a positive step that could help move forward the Kashmir resolution,” Asif added.
Call for International Probe into Pahalgam Attack
Reiterating Pakistan’s position on the April 22 Pahalgam attack, the Defence Minister demanded the formation of an international investigation commission to verify the facts.
“India’s accusations are baseless. Let the world see who is actually sponsoring terrorism,” he said, asserting that the findings would expose India’s own involvement in destabilizing activities.
“Pakistan Desires Peace, But Will Respond with Full Force”
Khawaja Asif emphasized that Pakistan seeks peace but will not allow its restraint to be mistaken for weakness.
“Pakistan has shown maturity and strength. If India violates the ceasefire again, it will stand isolated. This time, the global community stood with us, not with India,” he declared.
He concluded with a firm message: “Our position is non-negotiable. If India chooses hostility again, the world will witness the next chapter of our response. Dialogue is possible, but only under Pakistan’s stated framework.”
