Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are set to initiate virtual discussions on the formulation of the federal budget for the fiscal year 2025โ26.
Sources reveal that the IMF delegationโs visit to Pakistan has been postponed by a week. Despite the delay, in-person meetings are now anticipated to take place next week. In the meantime, the two sides will begin technical-level discussions online to share data and preliminary assessments.
These early virtual sessions aim to lay the groundwork for policy-level talks, during which key fiscal targets and commitments will be finalised.
Officials familiar with the matter stated that the government remains dedicated to implementing economic reforms in line with the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) programme, and the upcoming consultations will help shape the fiscal priorities for the next financial year.
