Top Military Leaders from Central and South Asia Discuss Security Challenges and Strategic Partnerships
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan recently hosted the Regional Chiefs of Defence Staff Conference in Islamabad, under the theme ‘Strengthening Bonds, Securing Peace’. The high-level event, organised at the invitation of Pakistan’s military leadership, brought together key military officials from Central and South Asia, including representatives from the United States, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
The conference, according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), aimed to foster regional security cooperation, enhance military diplomacy, and engage in strategic dialogues amidst evolving security challenges. Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, personally welcomed the visiting delegations and emphasized the growing need for deepened collaboration in light of complex security threats.
A Collective Approach to Regional Security
Addressing the conference, Field Marshal Asim Munir underlined the importance of stronger military-to-military ties and strategic partnerships in tackling transnational threats such as terrorism, cyberattacks, and violent extremism. “In an era defined by interconnected challenges, the need for mutual trust, deeper cooperation, and strategic dialogue is more critical than ever. Pakistan is fully committed to working with our partner nations to build a secure, peaceful, and prosperous region,” he stated.
The discussions during the event focused on a wide array of regional security issues, particularly the strategic dynamics in Central and South Asia. The talks emphasized enhancing security cooperation, joint military exercises, counterterrorism efforts, and the exchange of best practices in defense operations.

The participants also agreed on several key areas for continued collaboration, including:
