ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office has said that 3-day proposed conference on Afghanistan in Islamabad has been postponed due to Eid holidays.
New date of the peace conference will be announced after Eid holidays. Speaking to media at weekly briefing, Foreign Office Spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said Pakistan is hosting the Afghan Peace Conference on July 17-19 to provide momentum to the ongoing efforts for peace in Afghanistan. He said Afghanistanโs political leadership has been invited to attend the conference share their ideas for peace in Afghanistan. The conference, however, has been postponed.

About 20 prominent Afghan leaders including Abdullah Abdullah, Karim Khalili, Mohammad Younus Qanooni, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, Mohammad Hanif Atmar, Salahuddin Rabbani, Ismail Khan, Ata Mohammad Noor, Sayed Hamed Gailani, Sayed Eshaq Gailani, Batur Dostum and Mirwais Yasini have been invited to the conference in Islamabad.
Two days ago Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan talked to former President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai and invited him to participate in the peace moot in Islamabad. Pakistan is organising this conference to explore options to ensure peace prevails in Afghanistan through dialogues with the key stakeholders.
