Pakistanโs 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup has been finalised, with the national selection committee reaching full consensus on the lineup, according to reports. The official announcement by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected in the coming days.
Sources indicate that former captain Babar Azam has regained the confidence of the selectors following an improvement in form and has been included in the squad. The selection committee reportedly focused on team balance, recent performances and conditions expected during the World Cup while finalising the lineup.
However, the inclusion of fast bowler Haris Rauf and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan remains uncertain. Questions surrounding their fitness and recent form have made their selection doubtful, according to insiders close to the process.
Salman Ali Agha has been entrusted with leadership responsibilities in the probable squad, reflecting the selectorsโ confidence in his all-round abilities and calm temperament. Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub are also set to feature, strengthening Pakistanโs top-order batting options.
The middle order is expected to include Fakhar Zaman, Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Nawaz and Abrar Ahmed, offering a blend of experience, power-hitting and spin options. Usman Khan has been added to reinforce the batting lineup further.
Pakistanโs pace attack is likely to be spearheaded by Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah, alongside Usman Tariq and Salman Mirza. The combination aims to provide both pace and control in varying conditions.
Meanwhile, all-rounders Wasim Junior, Abdul Samad and Hasan Ali have been named among the reserve players, ensuring reliable backup options in case of injuries or last-minute changes.
Cricket fans across the country are now eagerly awaiting the PCBโs official confirmation, which will determine the final group entrusted with representing Pakistan on the global stage in the ICC T20 World Cup.
