Pakistan concluded their home Champions Trophy campaign without securing a single victory after their final group match against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi was abandoned due to rain on Thursday.
The Group A fixture held little significance, as both teams had already been eliminated from the tournament. However, persistent drizzle dashed Pakistan’s hopes of ending their disappointing run on a positive note.
Earlier in the week, Tuesday’s Group B match between Australia and South Africa at the same venue also fell victim to rain, with no play possible.
Led by Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan endured a forgettable tournament in what was the country’s first major global cricket event since 1996. Their six-wicket loss to India was a particularly bitter setback.
Bangladesh also concluded their campaign without a win, collecting a single point from the abandoned match.
Meanwhile, India and New Zealand, who are set to face off in a largely inconsequential group match in Dubai on March 2, have already secured their places in the semi-finals from Group A.
