Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Ishaq Dar announced on Sunday that Pakistan will provide Egypt with a list of 250 business enterprises selected through a transparent screening process for inclusion in Egypt’s “white list,” as the two countries move to deepen bilateral ties.
Speaking at a joint press conference alongside Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty, Dar added that another list of 250 firms will be prepared within six months, expanding the total to 500.
Dar, who also serves as foreign minister, said both countries have agreed to establish a Pakistan–Egypt Business Council to give institutional structure to their growing economic cooperation.
Responding to persistent visa-related complaints, he noted that a new facilitation mechanism has been finalised to ease travel and business mobility between the two nations.
The DPM said bilateral political consultations will take place in Pakistan during the first quarter of 2026, while the forum’s first meeting in Cairo is planned for the second quarter. For the first time since 2010, Pakistan and Egypt have also agreed to convene the Joint Ministerial Commission in 2026.
Egypt’s foreign minister expressed deep condolences over recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan, reaffirming Cairo’s solidarity with Islamabad in its fight against terrorism. Prior to the press briefing, the two leaders held a bilateral meeting in which Dar welcomed the positive momentum in Pakistan–Egypt relations and highlighted Islamabad’s strong regard for its ties with Cairo.
Dar emphasised that the visit reflected the shared commitment to advancing cooperation across political, economic, defence, and cultural domains. He said both nations were determined to elevate their multidimensional partnership.
FM Abdelatty, while conveying sympathies over the tragic loss of lives in recent attacks in Islamabad and Peshawar, said Egypt valued its cordial relationship with Pakistan.
He noted that both countries face common economic, political, and security challenges, making closer cooperation essential. He reiterated Egypt’s intention to strengthen bilateral collaboration and revitalise institutional mechanisms under the guidance of their leadership.
