In a rapid and decisive counteraction to India’s missile strike, Pakistan’s military has successfully destroyed an Indian brigade headquarters and shot down two Indian aircraft, security sources confirmed on Wednesday.
Pakistan’s armed forces have responded forcefully to India’s missile attack, ensuring that the enemy’s aggression is met with a significant and effective response. According to sources, all Pakistani aircraft remain secure, and the nation’s airspace has been fully protected.
The Pakistani military also targeted multiple Indian positions with precision strikes, obliterating the enemy’s brigade headquarters.
Earlier, Pakistan’s military spokesperson, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, confirmed the Indian missile strike that hit Pakistani territory. The missiles targeted several locations, including Kotli, Muzaffarabad, Ahmedpur Sharqia Bagh, and Muridke. The DG ISPR strongly condemned the attack, stating that such a “cowardly” act would not go unanswered.
“The Pakistani Air Force swiftly activated its defense systems, ensuring no Indian aircraft was able to breach Pakistani airspace,” Lieutenant General Chaudhry said, adding, “Pakistan will respond at a time and place of its choosing.”
The Pahalgam Attack and Rising Tensions
The recent escalation follows the deadly Pahalgam attack on April 22, 2025, in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed. The attack has caused significant friction between India and Pakistan, with India quickly blaming Pakistan for the incident without providing evidence. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowed retribution, claiming India would track down and punish those responsible for the attack.
In retaliation, India imposed various measures, including barring Pakistani ships from docking at its ports, suspending all trade and postal services, and closing its airspace to Pakistani flights. India also suspended the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) of 1960, which governs the sharing of water resources between the two nations, and downgraded diplomatic relations by expelling Pakistani defense advisors in New Delhi.
Pakistan has retaliated by halting all trade with India and warning that any further violations of the IWT or military actions would prompt an immediate and equal response.
