Pakistan has carried out targeted cross-border strikes inside Afghanistan. Officials describe the operation as a necessary act of self-defence. The strikes aimed to protect citizens and stop imminent terrorist threats.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi explained the action clearly. He said intelligence guided the strikes. They hit seven specific militant camps and hideouts along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Moreover, the operation took place overnight. It targeted locations in Nangarhar and Paktika provinces. Pakistani officials report that more than 80 militants died in the strikes.
Andrabi stressed that the action was selective and proportionate. Pakistan took utmost care to avoid any civilian casualties. He pointed out repeated attacks on Pakistani soil. These included assaults on law enforcement and civilians in border areas. In addition, the spokesperson linked the strikes to recent incidents. For example, he mentioned the February 6 attack on an imambargah in Islamabad. The UN Security Council has condemned such terrorist acts against Pakistan many times. It has also called for holding sponsors accountable.
Pakistan firmly rejects criticism from India over the operation. Andrabi accused New Delhi of supporting certain militant groups. He claimed Pakistan holds concrete evidence of Indian involvement in terrorism. Recent statements from Indiaโs Ministry of External Affairs strengthened this view, he added.
Strong Warning and Call for Regional Peace
Pakistan has sent a clear warning. Any future threats will face a swift and decisive response. At the same time, Islamabad remains committed to peace in the region. The spokesman urged Afghan Taliban authorities to stop militants from using Afghan territory against Pakistan.
Andrabi also raised the 2007 Samjhauta Express bombing. On its 19th anniversary, he noted that 68 people died, including 44 Pakistanis. Pakistan still seeks justice. He criticised India for what he called the systemic exoneration of the accused. Finally, he expressed concern about growing defence ties between India and Israel. Pakistan stays vigilant and ready to defend its sovereignty against any aggression.
