Cross-Border Operations
Pakistan strongly condemns recent provocative statements made by the Indian Defence Minister during a televised interview regarding cross-border operations.
Rajnath Singh, in the interview, asserted India’s readiness to conduct incursions into Pakistan to eliminate individuals attempting to carry out terrorist activities.
Singh’s remarks were prompted by revelations from a British media outlet regarding India’s covert operations within Pakistan, resulting in the deaths of 20 individuals since 2020.
Responding to the interview, Pakistan’s Foreign Office cited evidence presented on January 25, 2024, exposing India’s campaign of extrajudicial and transnational assassinations on Pakistani soil.
The Foreign Office denounced India’s declaration of intent to execute additional extrajudicial killings inside Pakistan, labeling civilians as ‘terrorists’, as a clear admission of guilt. It urged the international community to hold India accountable for its reprehensible and illegal actions.
Highlighting Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, the statement emphasized its resolve to safeguard sovereignty against aggression, as demonstrated in response to India’s incursion in February 2019.
The Indian government’s use of hateful rhetoric for hyper-nationalistic purposes was criticized, with Pakistan cautioning against actions that undermine peace and constructive engagement in the region.
Rajnath Singh’s assertion of entering Pakistan to target individuals accused of terrorism was reiterated, accompanied by India’s stance of maintaining good relations with neighboring countries while warning against promoting terrorist activities.
Earlier this year, Pakistan presented evidence alleging the killing of its citizens by Indian agents on its territory, which India dismissed as false propaganda.
The Guardian article, disclosing India’s involvement in such activities, follows accusations by the United States and Canada regarding Indian actions targeting their citizens.
These developments underscore the gravity of the situation and the urgent need for international scrutiny to ensure accountability and prevent further escalation of tensions between the two nations.
