DOHA: Pakistan secured its third gold medal at the ongoing Asian Masters Weightlifting Championship in Doha, Qatar, as Kashif Rehan claimed top honors in the 102kg weight category.
Competing in the 45-year age group, Rehan lifted a combined total of 170kg — 70kg in the snatch and 100kg in the clean and jerk — earning him the gold medal and further boosting Pakistan’s standing in the championship.
With this win, Pakistan’s medal tally at the event has risen to four, comprising three gold medals and one bronze. Rehan’s achievement has been met with praise from the national weightlifting community, highlighting his dedication and consistent performance.
The championship, which runs until May 31, will also feature Pakistani female lifters in the coming days. Athletes Neelam Riaz, Sabeel Sohail, and Nadia Maqsood are among those scheduled to compete, raising hopes for more podium finishes.
