Pakistan lifted the Hong Kong Super Sixes 2025 title for the sixth time on Sunday after a dominant all-round performance against Kuwait, capping off a sensational campaign with a commanding win in the final.
Batting first, Pakistan set the tone early by amassing a massive 135 for 3 in the allotted six overs — one of the highest totals in the tournament’s history.
Captain Abbas Afridi led from the front with a breathtaking 52 off just 11 balls, which included seven towering sixes before he retired hurt. Abdul Samad played a vital supporting role with 42 off 13 deliveries, while Khawaja Nafay added a blistering 22 from six balls to propel Pakistan to an imposing total.
Despite Kuwait’s Meet Bhavsar bagging three wickets, his side struggled to contain Pakistan’s relentless hitting, with the bowling attack conceding at an astonishing rate of 22.5 runs per over.
In response, Kuwait’s chase got off to a strong start, but the pressure of the required run rate proved too much. Bhavsar top-scored with an unbeaten 33, while Adnan Idrees contributed a quick 30, helping their side to 92 runs before being bowled out in the fifth over.
Pakistan’s Maaz Sadaqat starred with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 29 runs, while Abbas Afridi and Muhammad Shahzad chipped in with a wicket each to seal a comprehensive victory.
Earlier in the day, Pakistan reached the final after a thrilling one-run victory over Australia in the semi-final. Khawaja Nafay’s explosive 50 off 14 balls guided Pakistan to 121 for 2, before tight bowling in the death overs secured their spot in the title clash.
With this emphatic win, Pakistan reaffirmed their dominance in the format, clinching their sixth Hong Kong Super Sixes crown and further solidifying their legacy as one of the most successful teams in the tournament’s history.
