Pakistan-China Friendship
ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed the enduring strength of Pakistan-China ties, stating that the relationship is time-tested and remains steadfast and unshaken despite evolving global and regional dynamics. His remarks were shared by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement issued on Friday.
The army chief made these comments while addressing a ceremony marking the 98th founding anniversary of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA), held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on August 1, 2025.
The event was attended by senior Chinese and Pakistani military officials. Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong was the chief guest, accompanied by China’s Defence Attaché Major General Wang Zhong, other diplomats from the Chinese embassy, and high-ranking officers from Pakistan’s army, navy, and air force.
Field Marshal Munir warmly welcomed the Chinese delegation and extended his congratulations to the PLA on behalf of the Pakistan Army.
Praising the PLA’s nearly century-long contributions to China’s defence and development, the COAS highlighted the depth and resilience of the Pakistan-China strategic partnership.
“Our friendship with China is unique, time-tested, and exceptionally resilient,” said Field Marshal Munir, describing the bond as one built on mutual trust, consistent support, and a shared vision for regional peace and prosperity.
He emphasized that the Pakistan Army and PLA enjoy a brotherhood rooted in shared strategic goals, noting, “The PLA and Pakistan Army are true brothers-in-arms. Our enduring partnership is central to regional stability and collective security.”
In his remarks, Ambassador Jiang Zaidong thanked the COAS for hosting the event and recognized the sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces in the fight against terrorism. He reaffirmed China’s unwavering commitment to its strategic partnership with Pakistan, underscoring the countries’ deep-rooted defence cooperation and shared geopolitical priorities.
