The Meteorological Department has forecast rain, snowfall, and dense fog across Pakistan over the coming days as a new winter weather system moves across the country.
From December 13 to 15, upper regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are likely to experience rain and snowfall, potentially impacting travel and daily routines in mountainous districts. Residents have been advised to stay alert to local conditions.
Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir are also expected to see wintry weather during the same period, with cold temperatures and reduced visibility in higher elevations. Balochistan will receive rain and snowfall from December 14 to 15, bringing relief to some areas while creating challenges due to colder conditions. Authorities may issue local advisories depending on precipitation intensity.
Light weather activity is expected in urban centers such as Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and Peshawar, where drizzle may occur. Murree is likely to experience light rain and snowfall during this spell, and slippery roads are expected in hilly areas.
Dense fog is forecast to affect the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh, reducing visibility during early mornings and nighttime. Commuters are advised to exercise caution on highways and motorways.
The Meteorological Department also noted that another series of westerly winds is expected to enter Pakistan from December 19, potentially bringing further rain and snowfall to northern and western regions.
Weather conditions are likely to remain changeable in the coming weeks as winter systems continue to impact the country. Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during travel and outdoor activities.
