In his new role, Mohsin Naqvi expressed immense pride and described the opportunity as a tremendous honour. He vowed to take Asian cricket to greater heights and strengthen the sport across the continent.
“Asia is the heartbeat of world cricket, and I am committed to working with all member boards to accelerate the growth and global reach of the game. Together, we will unlock new opportunities, foster collaboration, and elevate Asian cricket to new levels of success,” Naqvi stated.
He also took the opportunity to thank the outgoing ACC president, Shammi Silva, for his exemplary leadership and valuable contributions to the council.
Farewell to Shammi Silva
Shammi Silva, the outgoing president of the ACC, reflected on his tenure, pointing to several accomplishments during his leadership, including securing record-breaking commercial rights for the Asia Cup and establishing a new pathway structure for emerging teams.
“It has been an incredible privilege to serve as president of the Asian Cricket Council. The dedication of our member boards has been crucial in elevating the stature of the ACC across the region,” Silva said.
Silva also extended his appreciation to his predecessor, Jay Shah, for laying the foundation for the ACC’s continued growth and success.
